RING THE BELLS – Optional Activity

Sunday 4 May @ 10:00 am12:00 pm

RING THE BELLS at the St Paul’s Bell Tower Between 10.00am and 12.00pm

The Tower and Bells were dedicated in 1888. The set of nine movable bells was cast at the Whitechapel Bell Foundry in England and shipped to Maryborough; the Tower was constructed locally.

This is a free event to ring the bells and french music will be heard throughout Maryborough. Participation to ring the bells will be limited to groups of 8 people for 30 minutes. No musical experience is necessary.

Note: A level of agility is required as access is via ladder-like stairs with wide rungs. Closed in shoes and pants/shorts (no long/flowing skirts which will be a tripping hazard) are required by safety.

Sign on at the Cit-In Registration Desk on Friday or Saturday.

10-10.30am, 11-11.30am and 11.30-12pm available.

If you miss out on actually ringing the bells or choose not to climb the ladder, the ground floor is fascinating to discover the history and a TV screen will show you what is happening in the bell tower.
